WHAT ARE SPINAL HEADACHES AND ARE YOU SUFFERING FROM THEM?
Spinal headaches, as the name suggests, are headaches that can originate from pain or pressure situated in the spine. These headaches are often extremely painful and tend to be much worse if you are standing up or sitting down.
If you have ever had a spinal procedure such as a spinal tap, lumbar puncture or an epidural, you may have experienced a spinal headache without realizing it. In fact, in a recent report, 40% of patients said they had experienced some type of head pain following one of these procedures.
Spinal procedures like those described above involve a small needle being inserted into the spine. This needle can often cause a change in spinal fluid pressure and this pressure change can cause a spinal headache to occur. You will know if you are because it is described by patients as “one of the worst headaches in the world”.

Even though most spinal headaches disappear after 24 hours, some can last as long as 5 days. The first way to treat a headache of this nature is to regulate the pressure that is being caused to the spinal cord.
