Herbal Tea Solutions Offer Natural Remedies for Headaches

Many of our patients use natural headache remedies at home to help them recover from headaches and reduce their symptoms. One of the most effective natural treatments for migraines and other headaches is herbal tea. There are several different herbal teas that can be used, each with their own flavors and health benefits.

Here are recipes for five herbal teas that work as remedies for headaches for many people. Give them a try to see if they will help you.

Natural Calm Lemon Ginger Tea:this tea is a mix of ginger, lemon, and Natural Calm – a branded magnesium drink mix. Magnesium has been shown in testing to be effective against migraine headaches. To make this tea, boil two cups of water, an inch-long chopped piece of peeled ginger, and, if desired, add one or two fresh lemon slices. After the mixture has started to boil, lower it to a simmer for roughly 10 minutes. Add Natural Calm and the tea together in a cup and mix. Sweeten if desired and discard the ginger and lemon bits.

Ginger Root Tea:one of the worst side effects of a migraine headache is nausea. Ginger root helps calms nausea and helps a headache sufferer relax while they recover. To brew a ginger root tea, take three quarter-sized slices of ginger root, add them to two cups of water, and slowly simmer the water for 30 minutes. After pouring, the ginger slices can be removed or left in depending on preference.

Green Tea:fresh green tea is easy to make and can be effective in fighting headache symptoms. Mix together two teaspoons each of dried green tea leaves and mint leaves for flavor. Add the mixture to a tea strainer, place in a cup, and pour 1 cup of hot water over it. Cover the cup and allow 10 minutes for steeping. Remove your tea strainer and sweeten as desired.

Feverfew Tea:feverfew is a type of daisy that can help prevent migraines and reduce their impact. Feverfew is also easily brewed into a simple tea. A basic feverfew tea can be made by taking one tablespoon of feverfew leaves and steeping them for 30 to 60 minutes in a cup of hot water. For a richer tea, add some lavender flowers, lemon balm, and chamomile flowers to the recipe.

Migraine Relief Herbal Tea:this migraine headache relief tea is specially designed for migraine treatment. This mixture of herbal tea will stay fresh for six months, provided it is properly stored in a cool dry place. To make this herbal tea, mix the following: 4 parts chamomile flowers, 3 parts lemon balm, 2 parts feverfew, 1 part skullcap, 1 part passion flower, ¼ part ginger root. Easy to make and store, this tea mixture can then be brewed with a teapot or infuser.
